Mastodons and Mansions
One Day Tour

9 am The Capitol
FREE:
Chambers of the House and Senate buzz during the annual 60-day legislative session held March and April. Enjoy a view of the city from the 22nd floor observatory.  Hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.  Tours available with advance reservations. Located at the corner of S. 10 am Old Capitol Museum
FREE:
  Restored to 1902 appearance with red candy striped-awnings and a glorious dome. Hours: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Saturday; Noon-4:30 p.m., Sunday and holidays.  Located at corner of S. Monroe and Apalachee Parkway.  850-487-1902

11 am Knott House Museum
FREE:
  Known as the house that rhymes for the poems written by Luella Knott, the 1928 owner, who attached them to her Victorian era furnishings.  Built in 1843, the house
holds many memories, including the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation. Hours: 1 p.m-4 p.m., Wednesday-Friday; Noon-4 p.m, Saturday.  Tours available every hour, with the last one starting at 3 p.m. Located downtown on the corner of

2 pm Governors Mansion
FREE:
Home of Florida's first family and meeting for national and international dignitaries, this Georgian-style mansion is breathtaking.  State rooms feature gifts from foreign countries and distinctive antique furnishings.  Hours: 10 a.m.- noon, Monday, Wednesday, Friday during legislative session and two weeks in December. Tours available with advance reservations. Located at 700 N. Adams Street, between Brevard and First Streets, and West of North Monroe Street.  850-488-4661

3:30 pm Museum of Florida History
FREE:
Visit the Prehistoric Florida Exhibit, the massive mastodon, Spanish treasures, war relics, and even climb aboard a reconstructed riverboat, just like those that once navigated Florida's rivers.  Hours: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Saturday; noon-4:30p.m., Sunday and holidays.  Tours available with advance reservations.  Located at 500 S. Boats, Bridges and Battlefields
One Day Tour

10 a.m. San Marcos de Apalachee
This fort was built to protect Spanish missionaries.  A museum built on site displays pottery and tools unearthed near the fort and explains the history of San Marcos.  Hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday-Monday.  Tours available with advance reservations. Noon Wakulla Springs
One of the world’s largest and deepest freshwater springs, where visitors are whisked within arms length of alligators and turtles while on jungle and glass bottom boat rides.  Visitors can swim in the cool spring water or go for a leisurely walk along the nature trail.  A full service restaurant , soda fountain and gift shop are on site. 3:30 p.m. St. Marks Lighthouse & Wild Refuge 
St. Marks lighthouse is a National Historic Site constructed in 1831 and is home to more than 250 species of birds, water-fowl and diverse habitats.  Visitors  enjoy hiking, crabbing, fishing, hunting, special events and educational programs. Hours: sunrise-sundown, everyday.  Located on the gulf coast 25 miles south of Tallahassee at the end of C.R. 59 off eastbound 98. 850-925-6121

5p.m. Natural Bridge
Where the river flows underground, a natural bridge forms across the St. Marks River.  The region’s most famous battle of the Civil War occurred here.  Tallahassee achieved the distinction of being the only southern capital east of the Mississippi not captured during the War.  Hours: 8 a.m.-sundown, everyday.  Located off S.R. 363, 15 miles south of Tallahassee.  850-925-6216

1 p.m. Challenger Learning Center

3 p.m. Tallahassee Automobile Museum

7:00 p.m. Nicholson Farmhouse
