Airport Expands Service with American Airlines

Tallahassee Regional Airport (TLH) announced today that American Eagle, an affiliate of American Airlines, will initiate a third daily flight between Miami International Airport’s (MIA) hub and Tallahassee beginning on March 2, 2009. This new service will offer passengers from North Florida more options for connecting to destinations throughout the U.S., Caribbean, Latin America and Europe. This new service is the result of continued air service development efforts by Mayor John Marks, state officials and other city leaders. American Eagle will operate the new flight using its 44 seat Embraer 140 jets.

"Anytime we can announce an expansion of air service, that is great news," said Marks. "But given the current economic environment, the fact that we’ve been able to negotiate a service expansion at a time when service is being curtailed at so many other airports is truly significant."

Airport officials report that American Airlines has been pleased by how well the service to Miami’s hub, initiated in March 2008, is performing. "This service addition expands our options for reaching Miami’s hub and comes just in time to benefit travelers during the spring legislative session," said Marks. "Our challenge to the community is to take advantage of this new flight and all of our carriers at the Tallahassee Regional Airport, which helps us demonstrate to the airlines that our citizens will utilize these expanded flight options."

The schedule for American Airlines Tallahassee service is as follows (all times local):
