TALLAHASSEE – Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp will join the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Management Services (DMS) to welcome the Quality Inn and Suites in Tallahassee to the Florida Green Lodging Program on August 27. The hotel is the first in Florida’s capital city, first in Leon County and the 33rd for the Green Lodging Program, a voluntary public-private partnership with hotels, motels, resorts, and bed and breakfast venues to conserve natural resources, reduce waste, minimize pollution and reduce costs.
Lt. Governor Kottkamp, DEP Secretary Michael W. Sole and DMS Secretary Linda H. South will present the DEP Green Lodging Program designation to Dee Patel, General Manager of the Quality Inn and Suites. DMS is facilitating tasks in a Governor’s Executive Order signed at the recent summit on climate change in Miami. Among other requirements, the Order requires that all state agencies reporting to the Governor must concentrate on using the DEP Green Lodging Program list to schedule meetings or conferences starting in 2008 wherever possible.
The designation ceremony will take place:
