Lake Talquin was constructed when the C.H. Corn Hydroelectric Power Plant was built. The name came from the combination of Tallahassee and Quincy the two cities the lake lies between.
This is a great lake to go fishing and is a favorite spot for locals. The lake is surrounded by the Lake Talquin State Park as well as seven landings. These landings are maintained by Leon County. A few of them offer campsites.
The state park and the Jack Vause County Park are side by side and offer picnic tables, nature trails, wildlife viewing, and a boat ramp. The Fort Braden Trails are not that far away. These trails run through the Lake Talquin State Forest offering thirteen miles of trails to explore and views of the lake.
